THE COMEBACK OF WEDGE SANDALS!!

There’s something deeply ironic about the return of wedge sandals.

For years, they were considered the fashion equivalent of being tacky. The kind of shoe associated with early 2000s family holidays, giant sunglasses, cork soles and dresses layered over jeans for reasons we still can’t fully explain. Wedges became one of those trends people collectively agreed to leave behind forever.

And yet… here we are.

Because fashion has this annoying habit of making us fall back in love with the things we once mocked. And suddenly, wedge sandals don’t feel ridiculous anymore. They feel cinematic. A little nostalgic. A little effortless.

Honestly, it makes perfect sense that they’re back.

After years of suffering through shoes designed purely for aesthetics, there’s something incredibly appealing about a heel you can actually walk in!!! Wedges give height without the pain, drama without trying too hard and that very specific 2000s confidence that only certain shoes seem to carry. Carrie Bradshaw understood this long before the rest of us did. Because no one romanticized shoes quite like her.

And unlike the wedges we remember from 2007, this new version feels softer. Less overstyled. The silhouettes are slimmer, the platforms are lower and people are wearing them with simple slip dresses, oversized linen trousers, vintage denim and messy hair that looks accidental in the most calculated way possible.

The interesting thing about wedge sandals is that they completely change the energy of an outfit. A flat sandal says practical. A stiletto says effort. But a wedge? A wedge says summer. It says late dinners, warm skin, sunglasses at sunset and walking home slightly too slowly because you don’t want the night to end yet.

Maybe that’s why people are suddenly obsessed with them again.

Not because they’re perfect. Not because they’re timeless. But because they feel fun in a way fashion hasn’t felt in a while.
